The armature-radome assembly contributes to reducing the wind load on the antenna and the tower structure; in addition, it prevents the accumulation of ice on the feeder and protects from adverse environmental effects caused by rain and hail. They are designed to increase the performance of the antenna, increasing the reflector gain, in the direction of the main lobe, between 1 and 2 dB, and reducing the interference in the side and rear lobes, thus improving the front-back ratio.
